  • How European Union countries are competitive in international agro-food exports? [Elektronski vir]

    The article investigates the competitiveness of agro-food exports by the European Union(EU-27) countries on world markets using the revealed comparative export advantage(B) index over the period ... 2000-2011. Chow tests, panel unit root tests, mobility indexand the Kaplan-Meier survival rates of the B index are used. The majority of agro-foodproducts in the EU-27 countries show revealed comparative export disadvantage onworld markets. Structural breaks caused by the EU enlargement are mostly rejected andthe B indices of the EU-27 countries tend to convergence. Most of the old EU-15member states experienced a greater number of agro-food products with a longer periodof duration of revealed comparative export advantages than most of the new EU-12member states. Among the most successful in agro-food export competitiveness on worldmarkets are the Netherlands, France and Spain.
