    The sources of energy use by alternative and nuclear energy and fossil fuel energy consumption vary by countries. The paper focuses on energy consumption in the world, by continents and on the ... importance of production of renewable sources of energy from different sources. The main focus is on the percentage of alternative and nuclear energy in total energy use in the European Union (EU) countries. The major source of energy consumption in European countries as well as in the world is fossil fuel energy. Sources of electricity production also vary by European countries among hydroelectric, coal, natural gas, wind, solar and nuclear energy sources. The paper aims to establish empirical association between sources of electrical energy, level of economic development, electricity prices for households, and the objectives to increase supply and use of energy from the renewable sources of energy and on the perception on sustainable energy development.
