    We have examined different transducers for measurement of welding force and displacement in order to establish their suitability for on-line monitoring of the resistance spot welding (RSW) process. ... Selecting the transducers we considered several factors, mostly those which affect their suitability to operate in industrial environment: accuracy, precision, reliability, robustness, cost effectiveness, and possibility of integration into existing machines. We have conducted the experiments on a medium power RSW machine with electrodes, which were pneumatically actuated via a leverage mechanism.
