  • The impact of the fuel prices and inflation on the persistence of hospitality industry prices in Slovenia [Elektronski vir]
    Gričar, Sergej ; Bojnec, Štefan
This paper estimates the impact of different prices, costs and demands on the persistence of hospitality industry prices in Slovenia. We specify equations by including the relevant information using ... monthly seasonally unadjusted macroeconomic data ranging from January 2000 to September 2010. Using the time-series analysis, we find those factors which strongest influence the hospitality industry prices: (i) The principal component analysis gives the two main components, where the first component is called the general price level. Another component is a bipolar (demand for services in the hospitality industry). (ii) In order to rebut the spurious regression, we checked the reliability of regression. Results were obtained by using the regression analyses with stationary variables I (1). The most statistically significant explanatory variables are proved the index of prices in hospitality industry in euro zone, consumer price index, index of fuel prices and dummy variable D2 for the period after euro adoption.
