    Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) is very popular key performance indicator (KPI), commonly used in manufacturing practice. OEE is actually a productivity metric that estimates the technical ... efficiency of a production process by controlling availability of production line (A), its performance (P ) and quality of end products (Q): OEE = A. . P . Q.However, this KPI approach production optimiz ation only from the tec hnology point of view and ignore the economic perspective. The pres ent paper reviews a new KPI, named Overall Cost Efficiency (OCE) which measures not onl y the technical efficiency of production, but also the belonging cost efficiency in real time. Once we have the OEE measures we can deduce OCE measures that inform us by what pe rcentage production is more expensive than it can be in the case of full tec hnical efficiency. A foundry factor y is used as a case study.
