    Lorber, Mateja, 1972-
Emotional intelligence (EI) is the ability to process, manage and express emotions effectively. The purpose of the current study was to determine the relationship and association of EI with aspects ... of communication, motivation, teamwork, interpersonal relationship, conflict resolution, job satisfaction and organizational commitment of employees in nursing. We used quantitative research, based on cross-sectional design. Our sample included 509 participants consisting 5.4% of all employees in nursing in Slovene hospitals. Significant differences were found between leaders% and employees% self-reported EI. EI had significant association with measures of communication, motivation, interpersonal relationship, teamwork, conflict resolution, quality of care, job satisfaction and organizational commitment of nurses. The evidence suggests that EI, job satisfaction and organizational commitment are important factors in terms of the concept of caring for others, a core requirement of the nursing profession.
