    The “Exploitation of prostitution” (sfruttamento della prostituzione) is a criminal offence in Italy since 1958, the year when the “Merlin law” came into power. This law is named after a woman, a socialist member of the Italian Parliament, whose efforts terminated the exploitation of sex workers.
