Il faut attendre l’année 1962 pour voir surgir une traduction complète d’Une saison en enfer et 1971 pour une traduction complète des Illuminations. Subjugués par le mythe de Rimbaud, forgé par les premiers traducteurs, éblouis par « l’alchimie du verbe » de cet adolescent, symbole de la beauté et de la révolte éternelle, ceux qui ont pris la relève, ont succombé, pour la plupart d’entre eux, « au triomphe de l’inintelligible et du chaos » et ont opté pour une interprétation à leur propre mesure. It was not until 1962 that a complete translation of Une saison en enfer appeared, and 1971 for the Illuminations. Over impressed by the myth of Rimbaud forged by the first translators, obfuscated by the “alchemy of the verb” of such a teenager, as a symbol of beauty and eternal revolt, later translators succumbed in their great numbers “to the triumph of the unintelligible and chaos" and opted for an interpretation to their own measure. An exemplary paradigm of a literal translation and of a translation-recreation are the two translations of the Illuminations in 1971 and 2008, respectively.
