Evidence guiding best practice when educating patients who are beginning and continuing a program of intermittent catheterization remains limited. During early December 2022 in Austin, Texas, a consensus panel of clinicians and researchers with expertise in intermittent catheterization was convened in person to create and discuss evidence and consensus-based statements that clinicians can use when instructing patients and caregivers when beginning intermittent selfor assisted catheterization. This article summarizes the full paper, which was published in the September/October 2023 issue of the Journal of Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing (vol. 50, no. 5, pp. 393,399; Quallich et al., 2023).
