Kritičkodiskursni pristup prevođenju ruske književnosti u Bosni i Hercegovini : doktorska disertacija

The thesis deals with the issues of literary translation as seen from the cultural aspect in the context of translation studies with embedded critical discourse analysis. CDA. used in the study, ...looks into the relationships of power, asymmetry, symbolic elites, function of paratext and hidden ideological meanings in translation practice as well as in the publishing practice. This study provides insight into the situation of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian publishing and publishing strategies. Source language is Russian and its status has changed significantly after the collapse of the USSR and that has a direct impact on translation industry. Official languages in the Socialist Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and in Bosnia and Herzegovina were analyzed in their function of the target language and especially the Bosnian language after 1992 which is connected with the cultural capital (example of translation of Leo Tolstoy's Hadji Murat). The paper is based on three hypotheses: 1) publishing practice and translation practice in the Socialist Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina before 1990s and in Bosnia and Hercegovina after the 1990s have significantly changed and they also function in the framework of the power base: it also affects the number of translated works, as well as the choice of works, 2) different translation strategies are present in translators' choice in the two different analyzed periods, 3) in addition to the usual reasons, there are also specific reasons in Bosnia and Herzegovina for "retranslation" of cetrain literary works (e. g. changed status of the Bosnian language) which are related to cultural capital within the textual and conceptual grids. Within the framework of Russian literature in Bosnian-Herzegovinian translations, the paper proposes elementary basis for further translation researches and it enriches the scientific field with the non-western perspective of the researcher who originates from a language and culture with a smaller number of speakers.
